Portage County Amateur Radio Services has donated $10,471.76 to the Center of Hope, a program of Family and Community Services. The group has been raising funds for the Center of Hope for 16 years, but this year’s donation is the group’s largest donation to date.
The funding will go to help the Center of Hope with the agency’s holiday distribution, which provides toys and food for Ravenna families in need, representatives of Family and Community Services say.
Mike Szabo, vice president of PCARS, and Paul Hyland, treasurer, presented the check to Mark Frisone, executive director of Family & Community Services, and Lajoyce Harris, program manager of the Center of Hope. The donations are collected from club members as well as the community, and have made a significant impact on Portage County over the past years.
