via Amateur Radio Daily: Special Event Calls Attention to Rural Depopulation

From 6 to 8 November 2026, Spanish radio amateurs will activate special callsign EG1PR — Radio por la Repoblación (Radio for Rural Repopulation) at PRESURA in Burgos, Spain, marking the event’s tenth anniversary. The initiative involves URE Burgos and URASO and aims to raise awareness of rural depopulation through amateur radio contacts. An exhibition of historic radio equipment, promoted by Inocencio EA1OG, will also be available on site.

The objective of this initiative is to use our hobby as a tool for dissemination and awareness of one of the great challenges of our country: the depopulation of many rural municipalities.
