Crook County officials to hold ham radio communication exercise simulating high-water event (Oregon)

On Saturday, Crook County Emergency Management, Crook County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, and Crook County Auxcomm (Auxiliary Communication) will hold a Ham Radio exercise throughout the county.

This SET (Simulated Emergency Test /Training) will simulate a high-water event in the Crook County area.

There is no danger, and this is an exercise based on simulated conditions. Ham Radio personnel/ SAR personnel will be moving around the county to check radio communication with the Emergency Operations Center.

This exercise will start at 8 a.m. and conclude by noon. It will involve the Simplex channel 146.50 MHz and the Grizzly Mountain Repeater 147.380 MHz which has a PL tone 162.2 MHz.

Again, this exercise tests communication ability within Crook County and the ability to reach out of Crook County in case of a real emergency.
