The deadline established by Brazil’s communications regulator ANATEL for the approval of old amateur radio equipment, which previously enjoyed exemption, is running out on Dec 31, 2020
At the end of May this year, Brazil’s national amateur radio society LABRE made ANATEL a request for the approval period for this equipment to be extended, and the Agency accepted the request , extending the term until Dec 31, 2020 through the publication of Act 2790, of May 22, 2020 , available at this link ( click here to view ).
Now, with less than 30 days until the end of this period, there is still a large number of colleagues who, having this equipment, have not regularized it. ANATEL’s system is very counter-intuitive and has discouraged or even prevented this from being done.
Thus, understanding that, in addition to this problem, the approval of this equipment by declaration of conformity is no different from what is done with equipment imported for personal use and that it should normally be offered, without a deadline, LABRE has filed a request with ANATEL.
