Eight Sea Cadets from RCSCC Quinte, the Belleville Sea Cadet Corps were part of 28 cadets from across Ontario on a multi-unit training day at the Ontario Science Centre recently.
Ms Jean Moffet, 99, & PO1 (ret’d) Peter Dederer mentored the cadets on subjects including long range operations, satellite, CW, networking as well as Naval communications protocols and procedures. Every cadet received time using the #VE3OSC station and enjoyed making contacts as far away as Germany and Denmark.
This was an opportunity to give Cadet Radio Station Cadets a chance to get hands-on experience in operating a well-equipped amateur radio station capable of global communications and to expand their contact with STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) learning while networking with like-minded cadets. These cadets are your future technicians, maintainers, programmers, and engineers.
