AMSAT SA has changed the date of its annual Space Symposium from Saturday 23 July to Saturday 10 September and the format to a hybrid symposium.
The in-person event will be held at the Premier Hotel Midrand with a virtual live screening on the BlueJeans platform. AMSAT SA said that the hybrid event will present the best of two worlds still making the symposium participation available to people who cannot travel to Midrand. The call for papers has been extended to 31 July 2022. Send a short synopsis to admin@amsatsa.org.za for consideration by the symposium organisers.
The theme of the symposium is “Space, the next frontier for expansion of amateur radio.”
The symposium programme will cover topics at the entry level of how to set up an inexpensive satellite station, how to get the most out of a hand-held transceiver to explore satellite communication and a more advanced level to doing space research with your own space weather station and how to get involved in building satellites.
The registration will open on 15 July 2022.
