Amateur radio operators celebrate ‘Hamfest’ in Plains Township (Pennsylvania)

In his spare time, Herb Krumich bounces signals off the moon.

Krumich, a member of the Murgas Amateur Radio Club, said the hobby, like no other, allows him to build camaraderie with people from around the world.

He said equipment at his home in Bear Creek bounces signals into the atmosphere, enabling him to communicate with about 100 amateur radio operators a day, many from places as far away as Russia and Europe.
